Bluetooth is a wireless protocol that we take for granted these days. It's enabled in most of our smart devices including smartphones (where we can perform hands-free calls in our cars) to our smartwatches (allowing Apple users to automatically unlock their Macs with an Apple Watch), to wirelessly connecting our mice and keyboards. Blink and you might miss it. Yes, this is actually the third generation Nest thermostat and I actually had to see it side-by-side with the second generation unit before I could tell what had been changed — and I actually have two second generation Nest thermostats in my house. The third generation Nest has a 40 percent larger display and is slightly thinner than its predecessor (which itself was thinner than the chunky first generation model).
