“Our developers have had the most prolific and profitable year ever, and we’re excited to show them the latest advances in software technologies and developer tools to help them create innovative new apps,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing in a news release. “We can’t wait to get new versions of iOS and OS X into their hands at WWDC.”

Although the company has reason to be confident that the event will be a great success, there’s a certain feeling that Apple needs to come up with something to rekindle some of the sizzle that the company has been lacking as of late; gentle updates to iOS and OS X won’t cut it.
