ViewSonic Brings VP2770-LED Monitor to the Wide Quad High Definition (WQHD) Display Party

ViewSonic sent us a note today to let us know it's launching its latest 27-inch professional grade monitor -- the VP2770-LED. One of the things that sets this display apart is that it features a WQHD (Wide Quad High Definition) resolution, or 2560x1440, with 3.7 million pixels squeezed in. That's almost 80 percent more pixels than what's found on a standard Full HD 1080p display.

"For professions such as digital photography, architecture, computer engineering and design where true color and total screen viewing is essential, a professional grade display can make all the difference," said Mark Lufkin, European Managing Director at ViewSonic. "Our VP2770-LED SuperClear IPS monitor is the most comprehensive choice for the professional user, offering stunning color accuracy, wide viewing angles, full ergonomics and multiple inputs for a full range of connectivity."

The connectivity options Lufkin brags about include a DisplayPort, HDMI port, Dual-Link DVI port, VGA port, two USB 3.0 ports, and two USB 2.0 ports. To take advantage of the WQHD resolution, users will have to utilize either DVI-D or DisplayPort; VGA supports up to 2048x1152 and HDMI goes up to 1920x1080.

Other specs include a 12ms response time (G-to-G), 300 cd/m2 brightness, 20,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, IPS panel for wide viewing angles, and a slim bezel design.

ViewSonic says the VP2770-LED will begin shipping in Europe at the beginning of October, though it appears the monitor is also destined for U.S. shores. We spotted the panel for pre-order on Newegg for $800 (MSRP is $850).
