Unofficial Specs of Lenovo's Windows 8-based ThinkPad Tablet 2 Leaked Online

In lieu of making a stink about Microsoft's plan to directly compete with its hardware partners with its Surface tablet a la Acer, Lenovo a few days ago unveiled a Windows 8-based slate of its own, the upcoming ThinkPad Tablet 2. Lenovo was only willing to share a handful of details, including the fact that it will be a 10.1-inch device with an optional digitizer pen, pay-as-you-go plans, and 4G models, but the company said virtually nothing about the hardware specs. Fortunately for curious folks like us, it's incredibly hard to keep a secret in this day and age of the Internet.

None of this is official, but leaked specs and company slides certainly look legit. So, what will the ThinkPad Tablet 2 purportedly bring to the tablet party? Here's a rundown of some of the highlights:
  • 10.1-inch IPS display with a 1366x768 resolution
  • Intel Cloveview Dual Core Atom CPU (32nm)
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 64GB of internal storage
  • 8MP rear-facing camera with LED flash
  • 2MP front-facing camera
  • 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi; Bluetooth 4.0

According to one of the slides, Lenevo intends to go head-to-head with Apple's iPad tablet. The device measures 9.8mm and weighs 650g, offers 10 hours of battery life, boasts HDMI, USB, and SD ports, has a fingerprint reader, and supports NFC.

Look for the ThinkPad Tablet 2 to ship in October.
