Toshiba Trots Out a 13.3-inch Chromebook Priced at $280 MSRP
"We see great potential in Chrome OS as it offers both consumers and educators a simple and easy-to-use computing experience," said Carl Pinto, vice president of marketing, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division. "We believe that bringing a more versatile 13-inch model to market will help drive the entire category forward by giving customers an option that opens new doors for productivity, not only for consumers, but also students and educators."
Despite being a little bigger than the competition, you aren't likely to throw your back out lugging this thing around. It has a slim 0.8-inch profile that weighs 3.3 pounds. A Haswell-based Intel Celeron processor powers the system and is aided by 2GB of RAM and a 16GB solid state drive (SSD).
Other features include two USB 3.0 ports, a full size HDMi port, security lock, memory card reader, Bluetooth 4.0, and dual-band 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi. Toshiba didn't say how big the battery is, though the company claims you can expect up to 9 hours of battery life on a single charge.
Toshiba's Chromebook will be available to purchase starting February 16, 2014, for $280 MSRP.
