T-Mobile Plans To Release 4G Tablet In 2011

Recently, we told you about Sprint's plan to expand its tablet offerings, including plans to introduce a tablet with WiMAX service sometime next year. Not content to let Sprint steal all the thunder, T-Mobile wants its customers to know it has plans to release a 4G tablet sometime next year as well.

"T-Mobile is working closely with the majority of our OEM partners to deliver 4G products by integrating HSPA+ into roadmaps in 2011 as the dominant global standard," the company said in a statement. "Consumers will continue to see HSPA+ fuel future innovation in a variety of mobile consumer electronics from smartphones and tablets to emerging devices. T-Mobile will continue to be at the forefront of wireless innovation, delivering an aggressive 4G product lineup in 2011, including 4G tablets."

Because T-Mobile and Sprint use different wireless standards, their tablets will also support competing technologies. T-Mobile's tablet will run on HSPA+ while Sprint's tablet will support WiMAX. To date, neither Sprint nor T-Mobile have offered any details concerning the tablets, so OS, price, release date, and manufacturers are still unknown.
