Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer Breaks Cover Busting Out At Lightspeed
Clocking in at 90 seconds, the teaser trailer opens up with a shot of the desert, which could be Tattooine, with a voice in the background asking, “There has been an awakening, have you felt it?” Shortly afterwards a Stormtrooper pops up without his helmet looking distressed and taking quick, short breaths before turning his head at the sound of droids setting up a sinister and dark tone for the rest of the trailer.
While what we see looks great, there are two things that really stand out. In the final sequences of the teaser, we are shown the Millennium Falcon flying over the sands of Tattooine and pursued by TIE Fighters. But it is most likely the appearance of the Sith wielding a new lightsaber that will have everyone talking.
The unknown Sith, upon activating his weapon, reveals a lightsaber with a crossguard. The lightsaber itself will possibly be the main focus of many discussions revolving around the new teaser trailer. We are not sure what to make of it but, after repeated viewings, we noticed that the blade of the saber itself seems to have a shimmering effect and doesn’t appear to be completely solid like the lightsabers we are used to seeing in the George Lucas films. Could this be a much older version of the lightsaber or just a new lighting effect from JJ Abrams and company?
What do you think of the teaser trailer and what do you make of the new lightsaber?
