SanDisk Launches Extreme Pro SDHC Ultra High Speed Card
Taking aim at serious photography buffs and enthusiasts who "need to shoot like the pros," SanDisk today introduced its new Extreme Pro SDHC UHS-I card. What is UHS-I, you ask? For those of you not savvy to the newly released SD 3.0 specification, that's the new Ultra High Speed technology, and with it, SanDisk says its card can achieve up to 45MB/s read and write speeds.
"SanDisk has a long history of developing fast, highly reliable cards for photography enthusiasts and professionals," said Susan Park, director, retail product marketing, SanDisk. "Our new SanDisk Extreme Pro SDHC card lets consumers take their skills to the next level by capturing high-resolution still images, fast-moving action shots, and HD videos of the highest quality."
This, SanDisk says, will become increasingly important as DSLRs continue to offer higher megapixel continuous burst shooting and HD video capture. And speaking of the latter, SanDisk says its card adheres to the new UHS Speed Class 1 video class rating, offering 10MB/s minimum sustained writes while recording HD 1080p videos and 3D content.
The new cards are available now in 8GB to 32GB capacities with prices ranging from $110 to $350.
