Samsung Announces Shipment Details For Galaxy Tab 8.9, Player 4.0 / 5.0
Both of these devices were slated to be on sale in America this spring, but a series of delays presumably kept their off shelves until now. Samsung's remaining mum on why exactly it has taken this long for them to get around to shipping, but now that they're here, it's not like anyone's too worried about it.
The Galaxy Player 5.0 and 4.0 both use Android 2.3.5, Bluetooth 3.0, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, 800x480 displays, front & rear cameras, access to the Android Market, 8GB of storage, a microSD slot and a thing for playing back music for hours on end. The 4.0 will sell for $229, while the 5.0 goes for $269; both will go on pre-sale on September 27, with shipments starting on October 16.
In the tablet world, Samsung's also announcing that the previously revealed Galaxy Tab 8.9 will ship on October 2nd, with pre-sales already active at Best Buy and the like. The 16GB model will go for $469 (Wi-Fi only), while the 32GB model goes for $569. Pricey, for sure, but it'll tide over those who feel like waiting on the Tab 7.7.
