Sam Raimi Logs In To Warcraft
Based on the popularity of the MMORPG, can there be any doubt that the movie will be a hit, at least in the first weekend? The movie hasn't exactly been spending to the big screen: Blizzard made a deal with Legendary Pictures for a film adaptation of the game way back in 2006.
The film's producers will include "Dark Knight" producer Charles Roven, his Atlas producing partner Alex Gartner, Legendary's CEO Thomas Tull, Legendary's chief creative officer Jon Jashni, along with Raimi and his producing partner, Joshua Donen. Rob Tapert will be executive producer, and Blizzard senior VP of creative development Chris Metzen will be co-producer.
Raimi said:
"At its core, Warcraft is a fantastic, action-packed story. I am thrilled to work with such a dynamite production team to bring this project to the big screen."That's all true, but that doesn't guarantee a blockbuster box office take. What does guarantee that is the massive following of the game.
According to the report, Raimi will finish "Spider-Man 4" first (shooting begins early 2010), then move on to "Warcraft." Sam Raimi is probably best known for directing the first three "Spider-Man" movies, but he's also well-known for the "Evil Dead" series and most recently released "Drag Me to Hell."
