Rumor Has It Microsoft Could Be Beefing Up Xbox One Specs
According to the Examiner, Microsoft is planning to increase the Xbox One's GPU clockspeed. Other rumors around the web suggest the console could also see an increase in RAM from 8GB and 12GB, and perhaps other changes resulting from the Xbox One's development team pinging developers for feedback they want to see on the hardware side.
A "trusted source" of the Examiner's claims the GPU clockspeed rumor is "100 percent true," but as far as the RAM rumor goes, only the dev kits are rocking 12GB of RAM, while the retail kits will have 8GB.
"Physical RAM won't be upped in time for November release as it was too late even during initial reveal, but developers are saying, in terms of efficiency of the RAM and the reported yield problems, Microsoft have made some snappy breakthroughs and gave the impression it was a straight up increase in clock speed," the source said.
If that's the case, it's possible Microsoft could bump up the RAM in a future version of the Xbox One.
