RIM Partners With 7Digital For BlackBerry 10 Music Streaming

It won't be long before "BlackBerry" refers to a phone that boomed in 2008, and fell completely flat by 2012. That is, unless RIM can somehow turn things around in Q1 2013 with the launch of BlackBerry 10. The company is fighting an uphill battle; iOS and Android have leapfrogged it in terms of market share, and even Windows Phone is quickly catching up. BlackBerry is losing loyal users left and right, and there won't be much hope to drag them back without a robust app universe. Thus, it makes sense to see RIM selecting 7digital as the official music partner of BB10. That's right -- BlackBerry 10 OS will launch with digital music at the forefront, despite being an afterthought for RIM in prior years.

BlackBerry 10 users will be able to browse, preview and purchase high quality digital music from BlackBerry App World, with over 22 million tracks from the 7digital catalog. The music section of the BlackBerry App World, powered by 7digital, will feature new releases, regional selections, a full back catalogue and independent artists. 7digital powered music service will be available for users in the UK, Europe, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, South Africa, Malaysia and Singapore, and if you want a taste now, you can look at its powered services on the PlayBook.
