RIM Considers Allowing Android on BlackBerry Devices
We already know RIM wants to get a Java virtual machine (VM) up and running on its upcoming PlayBook tablet -- the company has said as much -- but exactly which one it will use hasn't been decided. See where we're going here? According to BGR, RIM hasn't ruled out using the Dalvik VM, which is the same one Android uses. Should RIM go in that direction, it would allow the company's QNX devices -- like the PlayBook -- run most applications intended for Android.
This is all hearsay, of course, but what BGR is hearing is that RIM and Google might actually hammer out a deal that has the latter providing official support for Android apps on the former. We can't help but think that this would be a win-win for both sides.
