Retro ‘Knight Rider’ Phone Charger Hassels The Hoff, Turns Your Car Into KITT

Many newer vehicles come with a USB port or two, but even if that's the case, you still might want to consider a dedicated USB charger for your car. Why? Because over at ThinkGeek, you can pick up the Knight Rider KITT USB Car Charger, an officially licensed Knight Rider product that will give your daily driver that piece of pizazz you've been looking for!

Not only does it look like KITT's voicebox from the hit 1980s TV show, but it talks. Well, sort of -- you won't have much luck holding a conversation with it the way David Hasselhoff did on so many occasions during his four seasons playing Michael Knight. However, it does come programmed with nearly a dozen phrases along with light bars that sync to its audio.

KITT USB Charger

KITT measures 3.13 x 4 x 1 inches (WxHxD) and has a 3.5-inch power plug that fits into your vehicle's 12V power socket (cigarette lighter). On the side are two USB charging ports, both 1.0 amp. This is despite the packaging's claim that the bottom port is 2.1 amps -- it's not. While the packaging gets it wrong, the USB ports on the device itself are both clearly labeled "1.0A."

If you're feeling like a grumpy Guss for any reason, there's a switch that allows you to mute KITT (boo!) or turn him off altogether (double boo!). Seems like a shame to us, but to each their own.

You can purchase KITT now for $30. Note that it doesn't come with the 1982 Pontiac Trans Am that the original KITT was installed in, though if you own one and pick this up, you'll immediately earn 1 million geek cred points.
