Qualcomm Snapdragon 850 SoC For Windows 10 PCs Spied In Benchmarks Leak
Well, some leaked Geekbench scores have made their way to the internet that reportedly come from an unannounced Lenovo device that is powered by Snapdragon 850. For reference, the Snapdragon 835-powered ASUS NovaGo achieves single- and multi-core scores of 1802 and 6475 respectively in Geekbench. The prototype Lenovo device improves on those figures with single- and multi-core scores of 2263 and 6947 respectively.
We've plotted the scores in the chart above which shows Geekbench results from current Android smartphones and the [rumored] A12-equipped 2018 Apple iPhone.
While the single-core score represents roughly a 25 percent boost, the multi-core figure only increased by just over 7 percent. We also have to consider that these are synthetic benchmarks that likely show a best-case scenario, so it remains to be seen how this performance will translate with a Windows 10 system under load with a number of applications and multiple browser windows open (which was a sore point for first-generation devices).
In addition to bringing increased overall performance, Qualcomm says that the Snapdragon 850 incorporates the Snapdragon X20 LTE modem, which boosts speak 4G LTE download speeds to 1.2Gbps. In addition, the already stellar battery life of Always-Connected Windows 10 PCs is said to increase by 20 percent compared to first-generation devices.
