Qualcomm Acquires "Certain Assets" From GestureTek
So now, Qualcomm is getting itself more in line with consumers, to a place consumers actually touch. The company has just acquired assets from GestureTek, a developer of gesture recognition technology, giving Qualcomm ownership of certain intellectual property assets related to gesture recognition as well as key engineering resources. GestureTek is retaining other assets in continuation of its gesture-controlled public display and digital signage business.
Gesture recognition technology will be integrated into Qualcomm’s current and next-generation Snapdragon processors, giving OEMs the capability to produce smartphones, tablets and home entertainment devices with user interfaces based on natural human gestures. No word on how it may directly impact future devices, but getting processors and multi-touch closer together can't be a bad thing, can it?
