Apple's App Store (Unofficially) Passes 500,000 Apps
That half a million figure is according to Chomp (application search engine), 148apps (iOS app news and reviews site), and Chillingo (independent games publisher and a division of Electronic Arts). The three firms put together a long infographic celebrating the App Store's ascent to 500,000 apps, as well as a bunch of statistics.

According to the graphic, the App Store boasts over 85,500 unique developers. More than a third of the apps (37 percent) are free, and the average price mobile device owners pay for iOS apps comes out to $3.64.
It took a year for Apple to go from 10,000 to 100,000 apps in the App Store way back when. Compare that to what's taken place just in the last several months. In January, Apple announced the App Store was filled to the brim with 350,000 apps, so in the last four months, Apple has added another 150,000.
