Polaroid Will Introduce An Interchangeable Lens Camera Running On Android At CES

Polaroid confirmed plans to reveal an interchangeable lens camera that runs on Android at CES in January. Earlier this week, multiple sites claimed Polaroid planned to offer a mirror less compact system camera that will be called the IM1836. This camera will be manufactured by Sakar.

The mirror less camera will reportedly feature an 18.1-megapixel sensor as well as a 3.5-inch touchscreen. The camera will run on Android 4. Although few other details about the upcoming camera are available at this time, Scott Hardy, president and CEO of Polaroid emailed Imaging Resource the following statement, "There will be an Android powered, interchangeable lens camera introduced by Polaroid at CES 2013. Additional information and specs will be released during the show."

This isn't the first Android-powered camera from Polaroid. The company revealed the SC1630 camera at CES 2012. This camera featured a 16-megapixel sensor and runs on Android. Although the camera was announced, it still has not gone on sale nearly one year after it was revealed.
