Overwatch eSports Powerhouse Confirmed For Nintendo Switch, SNES Games Head To Switch Online

Overwatch on Nintendo Switch
There has been a rumor that Overwatch would be heading to the Switch, and during the recent Nintendo Direct broadcast, it was confirmed to be true. Overwatch Legendary Edition is in fact bound for the Switch, arriving on the hybrid game console on October 15 in North America. Eager fans can preorder the game now.

"Become the vibrant, powerful heroes of Overwatch! Line up the perfect shot using Nintendo Switch’s built-in gyroscopic motion controls, or engage the opposing team with the analog control sticks," Nintendo says.

Switch players will be able to hop in and have access to 31 heroes on 28 maps. But it is the motion controls that could potentially set the Overwatch experience on the Switch apart from other platforms. Players who preorder will also receive a bonus Noire Widomaker skin.

The game costs $39.99 and takes up 12.1GB of space. It includes the full game (obviously), five Legendary hero skins, five Epic hero skins, five Origin hero skins, and more. Both the retail and digital versions also include three free months of Nintendo Switch Online.

"Overwatch brings players together to cooperate and compete in a bright and optimistic vision of the future, and we're looking forward to welcoming Nintendo Switch gamers into the fun," J. Allen Brack, president of Blizzard Entertainment, said in a statement. "The Legendary Edition includes more than three years' worth of content updates and gameplay enhancements, and we're excited to team up with Nintendo to provide players with new ways to enjoy the full Overwatch experience -- including on the go."

While time will tell, Overwatch seems like a good fit for the Switch. It's not a very demanding game, in terms of the hardware—the Switch should be able to adequately render the cartoon-style graphics and animation.
