Nokia Puts 808 PureView Smartphone On Sale In America For $699

How much would you be willing to pay for your next Nokia smartphone? Off contract, that is. With the Lumia 900 being practically given away for free on a 2-year deal at AT&T, it's hard to stomach much over $99, but somehow, Nokia thinks it has a shot at selling a few of its 808 PureView devices in the United States. At $699.

The 808 PureView isn't even a "smartphone" by today's definition, opting for Symbian as the operating system, and relying on just 512MB of RAM and a single-core 1.3GHz processor.
But the one thing it does have? A wild camera. There are 41 megapixels of awesomeness in there, and there's zero doubt that folks are taking notice with such a figure. Of course, a rad cameraphone is worth a premium, but $699? Yikes. You can vote with your wallet by buying (or not buying) from Amazon now that it's available in the U.S.A. Previously, it was only available in international regions.
