MSI's GT683DX Laptop Sizzles with Style, High End Hardware

MSI just announced its new GT683DX laptop, a "top-of-the-line" gaming notebook that, based on the spec sheet, is a dandy. This 15.6-inch powerhouse brings a quad-core Intel Core i7 2630QM processor to the mobile fight, along with up to 16GB of DDR3 memory and a GeForce GTX 570M graphics card with 1.5GB of dedicated GDDR5 memory. It's a solid foundation, but we're just getting started.

There are several storage options to choose from, including:
  • 750GB SATA 7200RPM + Intel 120GB SSD
  • 500GB SATA 7200RPM + Intel 120GB SSD
  • 750GB (4K sector) *2
  • 750GB SATA 7200RPM *2
  • 500GB 7200/5400RPM *2
  • 320GB SATA 5400RPM *2
Rounding out the feature-set is a DVD burner (Blu-ray optional), 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, GbE LAN, HD webcam, HDMI and VGA ports, two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, eSATA, multi-format memory card reader, 9-cell battery, and Windows 7.

MSI also includes its usual assortment of proprietary technologies, such as its ECO Engine power saving mode, TDE overclocking, i-Charter technology (charges USB devices more than three times as fast), and Cooler Boost (press a hotkey over the keyboard to flip on additional cooling).
