MSI Introduces Core i5-Powered FX400 14" Notebook

MSI has what feels like a never-ending supply of notebooks coming out these days, and the flow is continuing today with the formal introduction of the FX400. It's a classic machine, with few flashy exterior features but plenty of solid components inside for those in need of a fairly standard on-the-go machine.

It's a 14" machine, so the size is perfect if you can't decide between a smaller ultraportable or a larger, full-size 15" notebook. It's equipped with THX audio, a Core i5 processor, NVIDIA's GeForce GT 325M graphics, and the ability to switch between the discrete GPU and an integrated one.

Other specifications include a 250/320/500GB SATA hard drive, memory card reader, HDMI and VGA outputs, three USB 2.0 ports, eSATA, audio in/out and a 6-cell battery. There's also 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, a 1.3MP webcam and an anti-fingerprint coating. There's no published price or ship date yet, but we doubt it'll be too much longer now.

The THX smart surround sound consists of theater-class speakers for high fidelity sound regardless of music type or frequency. Cinema Pro technology: The FX400 features powerful multimedia processing and MSI’s own Cinema Pro technology for the best possible graphics. TDE: The MSI FX400 comes with TDE (Turbo Drive Engine) technology under the hood to instantly throttle up CPU performance and accelerate system speed with one touch of the Turbo(P1) hotkey situated above the keyboard.
