MSI Brings Atom N455 To Wind U160DX Netbook

Another week, another MSI netbook. Not that we're complaining, but it's certainly becoming more and more difficult to find one netbook that fits your needs completely without having another nearby tempting you with one or two different features. In the race to saturate the market further, MSI has just issued the Wind U160DX, a thin and light netbook with Intel's latest parts and a very stylish design.

Awarded with Germany's iF Product Design medal, this machine supports DDR3 memory and has an Intel Atom N455 (1.66GHz) with MSI's own Turbo Drive Engine technology. The exterior is covered in their own Color Film Print technology, and the entire machine is under 1" thick. It weighs 1kg, and has a 10.1" LED screen with an 8ms refresh rate. There's also a chicklet-styled keyboard, a seamless touchpad, and a battery that can last 15 hours. Yes, 15 hours. Of course, we seriously doubt it would last 15 hours in "real-world" use, but even if it could hit 7-8 hours that'd be pretty impressive given the competition.

Other specifications include Intel's GMA3150 graphics, 2GB of RAM, a 1024x600 native resolution, 160+ GB hard drive, three USB 2.0 ports, a VGA output, mic in/audio out, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, a 1.3MP webcam and a 3 or 6 cell battery. The only real downside is Windows 7 Starter; we would've loved to have seen Win7 Home Premium onboard, but either way we suspect this will ship soon at a reasonable price point.
