Microvision's SHOW WX, World's First Laser Pico Projector, Finally Ships

Optoma may have ushered in the age of the pico projector, but it seems like Microvision is forging ahead with round two. The hotly anticipated SHOW WX pico projector is finally about to make its way into the hands of consumers, as the company has just revealed that it has received a purchase order from its Asian marketing and distribution partner and has begun shipments.

The PicoP-based product fits within the palm of a human hand, yet can project an image ranging in size from 12" to 150". Users can simply plug in their PMP, portable DVD player or any other source to transform the image into a big-screen spectacle. Unfortunately, Microvision is still keeping quiet on pricing and release details, but we are told that its distribution partners are expected to go live with sales plans soon. Here's hoping it stays cheap--with the recent introduction of the $199 PK-100 from Optoma, it'll need to be.

“We are delighted to announce that Microvision has commenced shipments this week of the SHOWWX laser pico projector, our first commercial product based on the proprietary PicoP display engine,” said Alexander Tokman, President and CEO of Microvision. “This is a historical milestone for Microvision, accented by a purchase order that firmly kicks-off the first sales for the SHOWWX.”
