Microsoft CEO Nadella Encourages Students That Emotional Quotient ‘Trumps IQ In The Long Run’
At the Talent India 2014 event, Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella, joined by India’s Human Resource Development Minister Smitri Irani, addressed students on the subject of their future and possibilities. During his talk, Nadella spoke about the importance of emotional quotient (EQ) over intelligence quotient (IQ).
“In the long run, EQ trumps IQ,” said Nadella to his audience. “Without being a source of energy for others very little can be accomplished.” The event was broadcasted across 20 states, 300 cities, and 750 locations with Nadella telling students that the opportunity before them “is unparalleled.”
He added, “All of you represent a multi-disciplinary approach to innovation - and that will change the future.”
Nadella, who joined the company in 1992, became Microsoft’s new ceo after Steve Ballmer announced his departure from the company. Prior to that his schooling and engineering was done in India and he earned his Master’s degree in the United States.
