Maingear Pulse 15 Pro 4K Notebook Straddles Gaming And Pro Markets With Skylake CPUs And NVIDIA GPUs
The Pulse Pro is available in two basic configurations: a gaming notebook or a mobile workstation. In gaming form, the Pulse 15 Pro can be equipped with either a 1080p or 4K UHD display, and comes standard with a 2.6GHz Intel Core i7 6700HQ processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M GPU with 6GB GDDR5 memory and 16GB of unbuffered 2133MHz DDR4 memory. For those that want to go the pro route, you’ll be greeted with an Intel Xeon E3-1505M processor, NVIDIA Quadro M2000M GPU with 4GB of RAM and your choice of 16GB non-buffered or ECC 2133MHz DDR4 memory.
Regardless of which route you take; you’ll receive a “Maingear certified” 256GB M.2 NVMe SSD standard along with a 1TB 7200RPM HDD to handle excess storage needs. You can also add Samsung’s hot 950 Pro (512GB) which offers up to 2500MB/sec sequential reads, but that option will cost you a hefty $475.If you opt to go down the workstation path, you can further supercharge your storage subsystem with two 256GB Samsung 950 Pros in RAID-0 ($500 option) or two 512GB 950 Pros in RAID-0 ($950 option).
Other features include a backlit keyboard with RGB lighting, Intel dual-band 7260 802.11ac Wi-Fi, a Qualcomm Killer E2200 gaming accelerator and an HD webcam. And we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention that the Pulse 15 Pro can be had in its natural brushed aluminum finish or covered with “automotive quality” paint, including colors like Austin Yellow, Epic Red and Sapphire Blue (in glossy or matte finishes).

As for pricing and availability, the gaming system starts at $2,249 and is available to ship as early as May 10th. The mobile workstation, on the other hand, starts at $2,549 and adds another four weeks to the shipping time if you select a Xeon processor.
