Lord British Turns To Kickstarter To Fund New RPG
So far, it’s going pretty well; at press time, he’s already raised $492,642 and counting. The campaign is only 2 days old.
“Shroud of the Avatar” sounds like a labor of love for Lord British, who has clearly put all his ideals of what an RPG should be into this project. The game is being built with his treatise on what makes a good RPG in mind:
-Fully interactive virtual world - If it looks usable, it should do something
-Deep original fiction - Ethical parables, cultural histories, fully developed alternate language text
-Physical game components will be available: Cloth map, fictional manuals, trinkets
-Multiplayer Online Game - which can also be played solo player / offline
Players can opt to be adventurers, explorers, or settlers, and within those lifestyles they’ll of course have to make choices and perform actions that will affect themselves and others. The game will be available as a download for PC, Mac, and Linux.
If you want in on the ground floor, Lord British and the team need another half a million bucks to get this thing rolling.
