Lamborghini has always been about brash and flashy supercars that are as fast are they are good-looking. Lamborghini is cranking up the dial once again when it comes to hyper-exotics by tuning its Aventador flagship to the max: enter the Aventador SVJ.

The SVJ designation stands for Superveloce Jota, which roughly translates into Superfast Performance Superiority. We have no reason to doubt Lamborghini here, as the vehicle is packing the world's most powerful production V12 engine, with an astounding 770 horsepower at 8,500rpm on tap. Likewise, there's 530 lb-ft or torque at the ready at 6,720rpm.

All of that power is enough to rocket the Aventador SVJ -- which has a dry weight of 3,362 lbs -- from 0 to 60mph in an eyeball crushing 2.8 seconds. Given enough straight road ahead, the vehicle will top out at 217mph. As we reported last month, an early production Aventador SVJ lapped the Nürburgring in 6 minutes and 44.97 seconds, snatching the lap record from the Porsche 911 GT2 RS by over 2 seconds.

The Aventador SVJ makes heavy use of carbon fiber to keep weight down, and it includes Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva 2.0 (ALA 2.0), which was first seen in the Lamborghini Huracán Performante. ALA 2.0 helps control airflow around the vehicle through the use of active flaps in the front splitter and around the engine cover. It can also switch between high downforce or low drag on command depending on current driving conditions.

As if this new performance beast wasn't enough, Lamborghini will also make available the limited edition SVJ 63, of which only 63 will be produced. Lamborghini was established as a carmaker in 1963, so the Aventador SVJ 63 pays homage to that moment in Lamborghini history.

“The Aventador SVJ is an innovative car and represents the absolute pinnacle of our super sports car product range,” said Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and CEO Stefano Domenicali. “The challenge to Lamborghini designers and engineers was to improve the purest essence of the Lamborghini super sports car, drawing on every inspiration from a space ship to a jet fighter: all the most exceptional examples of super-fast, super-athletic, aerodynamic superiority. The Aventador SVJ takes another step into the future, shaping the potential for super sports car development.”

The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ will be available in the United States in 2019 priced at $517,770.
