Intellivision Amico Retro-Revived Modern Game Console Unveiled For 2020 Launch With $8 Games
The first details of a new Intellivision game console came back in May when the pending unveil of the system was teased via a press release. Intellivision Entertainment has now announced that the Amico console, billed as a family friendly console that will have exclusive games, will launch on October 10, 2020.
Pricing for the Amico console is pegged at somewhere between $150 and $180, and it will launch in North America and Europe. Since Intellivision Entertainment designed the console to be family friendly, there will be no hardcode M rated games that let you blast your way through waves of enemies; all Amico games will be rated E for everyone or E10+. The console will have no physical copies of games; all titles will be downloadable and priced at $3 to $8 each. Parents should appreciate the game pricing and the fact that all of games kids see in the online store will be age appropriate.
Not only will the games be reasonably priced, but for the $3-$8 purchase price buyers is all inclusive; there will be no DLC or in-game purchases for any of the games. Amico gamers will get new exclusive games to play, and the console will come with pre-installed Intellivision classics (including Atari and Imagic games), and at launch, there will be more than 20 games available for purchase and download via the Intellivision Online Store. All the classic games will feature updated graphics and audio, new levels, multi-player modes supporting local and online play, tournament modes, and other new features.
