Integral Memory Empowers Smartphone Data Hoarders With World-First 512GB microSDXC Card

Integral Memory 512GB

We are barely into 2018 and already there is a new capacity king in the microSD storage arena. Integral Memory, a storage player in the United Kingdom, has introduced a 512GB microSDHC/XC card so mobile phone and tablet users can bump up their device's storage capacity by half a terabyte. The card also dethrones the previous capacity king, SanDisk's 400GB Ultra micoSDXC card, which now feels puny by comparison (not really).

"Consumers have been clear in their call for increased storage, as mobile devices have become essential to many in everyday life," said James Danton, marketing manager, Integral Memory. "The need to provide extended memory for smartphones, tablets and a growing range of other mobile devices such as action cams and drones has been answered. As a company, we are very proud to be the first to achieve the 512GB capacity milestone in microSDXC, worldwide."

Danton is not wrong about the call for more storage. Today's high-end phones are capable of snapping high-resolution pictures and recording 4K video, the latter of which can chew up storage space in a hurry. And for anyone who plays games on their smartphone or tablet, those can take up chunks of storage as well.

The new 512GB capacity card offers transfers speeds of up to 80MB/s—not quite as zippy as SanDisk's Ultra card, which is rated to deliver speeds of up to 100MB/s. Integral Memory's card has a UHS-I Class 1 specification, and meets the Video Speed Class 10 (V10) standard for video transfer performance.

There is no word on price yet. As a point of reference, SanDisk's 400GB Ultra card sells for around $242 on Amazon. Integral Memory says its 512GB card will be available next month, and is backed by a 5-year warranty.
