HLN Anchor Schooled In The Ways Of Troll, Cluelessly Continues Interview Despite Edward Snowden To Scissorhands Hijack

There are trolls, and then there are trolls. Jon Hendren is an Epic Troll, and his performance today on a segment of HLN’s “The Daily Share” will go down in history as one of the greatest live interview hijacks in recent memory. But we can’t say that HLN producers weren’t forewarned about what could possibly happen; after all, Hendren’s Twitter handle is @fart. Hmm….

The actual segment started off innocent enough, with show host Yasmin Vossoughian presenting an intro on how Edward Snowden joined Twitter yesterday to great fanfare, amassing over one million followers within 24 hours:

The show’s host then goes on to interview Hendren, who is introduced as a “Snowden Supporter.” Hendren doesn’t immediately draw attention to himself, remarking “He’s a hero, he’s doing what anyone one of use should have done in that situation.” Sounds reasonable enough. Not everyone would agree with that statement, but it’s not exactly an off-the-wall assessment. Hendren goes on, stating, “He’s been isolated for so long. We should listen to what he says.”

Vossoughian then cuts away from Hendren briefly to show a clip of HBO’s John Oliver grilling Snowden over his leaks of classified data. Once the attention turns back to Hendren, that’s when the fireworks commence.

“Well, you know, to say that he couldn’t harm somebody with what he did — he could, absolutely, he could,” says Hendren with a straight face. “But to cast him out, to make him invalid in society simply because he has scissors for hands—I mean, that’s strange. People didn’t get scared until he started sculpting shrubs into dinosaur shapes and whatnot.”

Now we don’t know if Vossoughian simply didn’t comprehend what Hendren said or was simply trying to gracefully move on to her next talking point, but we had already lost it.

“Just because he was created on top of a mountain by Vincent Price, and incomplete, with scissors for hands and no heart,” Hendren adds. “Edward Scissorhands is a complete hero to me.”

And still, Vossoughian proceeds as if she were interviewing a legitimate guest and not being taken by a master troll. We won’t give away the rest of the interview because it’s something that has be seen to be believed. But needless to say, if you need a pick-me-up for this Wednesday evening, it’s well worth watching. But be forewarned, if you’re nursing a broken rib or recently had back surgery, you may be in for some serious pain after watching this video.

After his HLN hijinks, took to Twitter to write:

Edward Snowden, Edward Scissorhands…. what’s the difference?
