Google Adds +1 To Search Engine For Relevancy's Sake
It's actually one of the better instances of crowdsourcing that we have seen, and it's a new feature that Google is rolling out today. It's called +1, and it works a lot like the Like system in Facebook. If you're searching for a particular topic, and you find a link that's really informative, you can +1 that so it moves further up Google's ladder. The more people that like the link, the more popular it'll become, and the more helpful it'll be.

Here is Google's take on the new feature, which we just so happen to love: The beauty of +1’s is their relevance—you get the right recommendations (because they come from people who matter to you), at the right time (when you are actually looking for information about that topic) and in the right format (your search results).
