GameFace Labs Delivers First 1440p Wireless VR Android Gaming Headset
So why is this different? It's tough to say, really, but GameFace is sure taking advantage of the momentum. The company is presently trotting out a working Virtual Reality headset that bests its rivals by offering up intense internal resolution. There's 1,280 x 1,440 pixels to enjoy per eye, which translates to around 2.5K (or ~534PPI). To push that kind of imagery, it relies on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 or Nvidia's Tegra 4 (the prototype units, that is).
This unit is also tether-free, and early testers seem to feel that the in-game experience is as good as it (currently) gets. Another interesting nugget? GameFace is Android-based, which could prove useful when it comes to ports and development. The outfit is looking to ship a dev kit by the end of 2014, and it's accepting interest inquires on its website today.
Something tells us 2015 is going to be the year of the VR headset, but are you really ready to strap one on?
