Galaxy Nexus Will Likely Be The First Phone To Receive Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
Google may not have made any official announcements per say, but the company let it slip that the Galaxy Nexus will be the first smartphone to receive an update to Android 4.1 aka Jelly Bean. The fact that the text says "phone" and not "device" makes us wonder if Google's rumored Nexus 7 tablet could be the first device to receive Android 4.1. Google's I/O conference begins next week, so it's likely we'll know more about the rumored tablet as well as which OS it will be running very soon. In the meantime, Google hasn't confirmed anything and the company has updated the checkout page for the Galaxy Nexus to remove the mention of Android 4.1.
Other phones and tablets will likely receive updates to Android 4.1 at some point as well. However, considering there are still a handful of phones that are waiting to be upgraded from previous versions of Android to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, it's likely many owners will be waiting a while.
