Fortnite v5.10 Patch Brings Birthday Challenges, Compact SMG And Return Of Playground LTM

Fortnite
Sing it with us: Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Fortnite, happy birthday do you! That's right, the world's most popular battle royale game is turning one-year-old, and to celebrate the occasion, Epic Games has launched a new patch (version 5.10) that introduces a bunch of goodies, including the return of Playground mode.

The return of Playground LTM hits tomorrow, July 25, and it will bring with it new team select options that let you and your set up team battles for practice for training. In addition, it will include the ability the drive All Terrain Kart (ATK) vehicles.

"Playground is a low-pressure environment where friends can let their creativity run wild. Build massive structures. Practice with the weapons and items. Fight against your friends. This mode returns with improvements for a limited time on Wednesday, July 25. Have fun!," Epic Games says.
The biggest thing, however, is a special birthday event. Epic Games has placed birthday cakes around the map with consumable slices next to them. Cake slices instantly award players +5 health and +5 shield when consumed.

There also are three birthday event challenges to unlock a new emote, spray, and Backbling. One of the challenges encourages players to dance next to birthday cakes on the map. And while you are moving about, you will notice that the Battlebus and Supply Drops have been decorated to celebrate Fortnite's birthday.

Beyond the birthday bonanza and Playground mode, Epic Games has rolled out a new weapon, a fast firing Compact SMG. It is available in Epic and Legendary variants, uses light ammo with a 50 round capacity, and serves up 23-24 base damage.
