FoldiMate’s $850 Robot Folds Your Piles Of Clean Clothes, Saves Marriages
Forget about diamond rings, flowers, and bowling balls. While you're at it, disregard any notions of buying another tie or tie rack, or whatever else you had in mind for your significant other. If you really want to show that you're committed to your relationship, then check out FoldiMate, which is the next best thing to having a maid fold your laundry.
Not many people like to fold clothes. It's tedious and if you have kids, good luck trying to stay ahead of the game. That's where FoldiMate comes in. FoldiMate is a startup from California that built a robot that can de-wrinkle and fold your shirts, pants, and most other laundry twice as fast as you can. It will even spritz them with perfume!
Have a look:
The team behind FoldiMate has decades of experiences in robotics, product management and technology, industrial design and fabrication, and even mechatronics. What they came up with was a device measuring 28x32x31 inches (WxHxD) and weighing 66 pounds. It's design to sit atop your washer or table. All you do is clip laundry to it and wait for your folded clothes to emerge. Folding takes about 10 seconds per item, with another 20 to 30 seconds required if you're also de-wrinkling.
It's an ingenious convenience, though the obvious caveat is price. This thing's going to run $700 to $850, though if you make a $10 down payment or more, you'll be entitled to a 10 percent discount when it comes time to pre-order.
