Facebook to Bring ‘Unfollow’ Feature to Mute Your Obnoxious Friend’s Posts Without Offending Them
At this point, you're probably shaking thinking, "I WISH Facebook was like that!" Somewhere along the line, our feeds get cluttered with crappy posts like Candy Crush invites, those annoying (and unfunny) Bitstrips, and incessant rants from that one friend or family member that has to comment on every topical issue. It's enough to make you want to take a break from Facebook, but there's another option -- "Unfollow."
According to Reuters, Facebook is replacing its "Hide All" button with Unfollow, which allows you to block all messages and posts from a single person or several people. The upside to this approach versus de-friending is that there are no hard feelings.
"This means you are still friends, but updates from that person won't appear in your News Feed. The goal of this change is to help people curate their newsfeed and see more of the content that they care about," Facebook explained in an email.
Facebook has already begun rolling out the Unfollow feature. If you don't see the option now, you will soon.
