In most companies, IT items are kept under close watch. If you request a new mouse, it takes two weeks and eight sign-offs to get it. But at Facebook, you just waltz up to the machine, swipe your ID badge, and press a button. Of course, it's likely that managers somewhere are keeping tabs on anyone who may dare abuse the system, but it's a great example of what can happen when you entrust your employees to only take what they need.
Needless to say, it's still as tough as ever to get a job there.
