Dota 2's Latest Hero Snapfire Is A Cookie-Baking, Hell-Raising Grandma Riding A Cute Lil' Dragon
The next hero for the game Dota 2 was announced during The International, which is the largest Dota 2 tournament in the world. While the tournament is running in Shanghai, with a massive $30 million prize pool, an unexpected announcement was made that the next hero for the game will be a freaky, wild grandmother riding on a dragon called Snapfire.
Snapfire debuted with an official trailer that shows off some of her abilities and will launch this fall. She bakes cookies and talks about showing a little kindness on the battlefield but notes not all deserve kindness. It's hard to tell from the video if the cookies are to replenish energy lost in battle or if they grant special abilities.
Snapfire gets attacked by enemies as she is pulling her batch of cookies out of the oven and they try to make off with them. The fight that takes place shows some of the skills that she and her dragon steed offer. Her saddle turns into a dual-barrel cannon that can take out flying enemies. We also see that her dragon is very agile, can dodge incoming attacks, and he breathes fire to make his own attacks.
Timbersaw does call her auntie in the trailer, indicating they are related, and he also wants her cookies. Snapfire looks as if she might be a good mix of support and offense. It has been a while since we talked about Dota 2, the last time was when the OpenAI bots killed a seasoned group of players live on Twitch with surprising ease. The bots are called the OpenAI Five, and they came from a research lab founded by Elon Musk.
