Do 11.6-inch Gaming Notebooks Still Have a 'Pulse'? You Betcha, Says Maingear

Gamers on the go were saddened to learn that Dell plans to discontinue the Alienware M11x, a potent gaming laptop about the size of a netbook but much, much more powerful. Well, wipe away those tears because small size gaming laptops still have a pulse. More specifically, Maingear is getting ready to launch the Pulse 11, an 11.6-inch gaming laptop built around Intel's newfangled Ivy Bridge platform.

Engadget managed to get the inside track on the Pulse 11, which was confirmed by Maingear's CTO and VP of Marketing, Chris Morley, on Facebook.

"Pulse is short for Pulse Rifle, which killed aliens in Ridley Scott's franchise. Yes, that was on purpose," Morley explains.

The pint-sized laptop will feature a 1366x768 LED display, 8GB of DDR3 memory (expandable to 16GB), 320GB hard drive, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M graphics (mobile Kepler), a Core i5 processor, HDMI output, USB 3.0, and THX TruStudio Pro sound. It will begin shipping June 3 starting at $1,099.
