Crysis 2 Minimum Specs (and Trailer) Revealed, Can Your Rig Run It?

Here's what we want you to do. Take whichever arm's stronger and clench a fist. Raise it above your head as high as you can, take a breath, and sock yourself in the gut if you've ever posted the question, "But can it run Crysis?" It hardly ever fails -- if there's a story about a next-generation videocard or a new supercomputer, it's a safe bet someone is going to ask that question. The main reason, of course, is because the original Crysis was so ahead of its time, or so poorly coded (depending on who you ask), it brought even the burliest of rigs to their knees when cranking up the screen resolution and eye candy settings.

Here's the deal, folks. Crysis 2 is shipping on March 22, 2011, and if your PC can't keep up, it's because you waited too long to upgrade, not because of insane system requirements. Revealed via a Facebook post, here are the minimum specs to run Crysis 2 without coughing up a hairball:
  • Internet connection for activation and online gameplay
  • OS: XP / Vista / Windows 7
  • CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz, AMD Athlon 64 X2 2GHz or better
  • 2GB RAM
  • Hard Drive: 9GB
  • DVD-ROM: 8X
  • GPU: Nvidia 8800GT 512MB RAM, ATI HD 3850 512MB RAM or better
  • Audio: DirectX 9.0c-compatible
  • Keyboard, Mouse, or the Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller for Windows
In other words, everyone with a modern or even semi-modern rig should be able to run Crysis 2, the only question is, will you want to? Check out this awesome new trailer and decide for yourself:

Yep, we're officially excited. How about you?
