Asus Announces Laptop Upgrades Galore

Wow, talk about a power play. Asus is pulling out all the stops at CeBIT this year, introducing a flood of new motherboards and now, a flood of new notebooks. The most notable newcomer that will be showcased this week is the LAMBORGHINI VX5, a 16 inch speed demon of a laptop that was inspired by the limited edition Lamborghini Reventón. The machine will get powered by a potent Intel Core 2 Quad processor and will feature 4GB of memory, a 1TB SSD (yes, 1TB!), a Full High Definition LCD, NVIDIA's 1GB (GDDR3) GeForce GT 130M and an illuminated "Chiclet" style keyboard that will likely feel much like that of the Eee PC 1000HE's keyboard (just bigger, of course). Furthermore, Asus is giving this machine a TwinTurbo mode which allows users to accelerate CPU and GPU performance via a speed key. Think overclocking, made easy. Rounding out the star-studded specs sheet is an integrated Blu-ray Disc optical drive.

In less detailed news, Asus has also proclaimed that its K Series will be revamped with its proprietary Super Hybrid Engine (SHE) for up to five hours of battery life from a six cell battery pack. The line will also include Altec Lansing speakers, SRS Surround Sound, a 16:9 widescreen display and an unusually cool palm rest. Following that, there's the new N Series, which contains freshened N81, N51, N60 and N70 notebooks. Each of these will come loaded with
Non-conductive Vacuum Metallization (NCVM) films to better protect them from the wear and tear of daily use.

Next up is the M90Gf, which is equipped with an NVIDIA
MCP79MH chipset that supports a maximum of 4 SO-DIMMs. In other words, this laptop can easily hold up to 16GB of RAM, which is an awful, awful lot regardless of your standards. Finally, there's the "Community Designed PC" Concept, which is a dual panel prototype designed in partnership with Intel.
