Apple’s ‘Selfie Sharing’ App Store Portal Shows The Selfie is Here To Stay
You're probably aware of the some of the more popular ones already, such as SnapChat. But have you heard of Facetune or SnapDash? These are two examples of apps that appear in Apple's new "Sharing Selfies" section in iTunes. That's right, there's now a dedicated section for downloading free and paid apps geared towards taking front-facing pics.
Need more proof? Consider that Oxford Dictionary named "Selfie" its word of the year for 2013. In case you're wondering, Oxford Dictionary defines "Selfie" as "a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website."
While selfies are probably here to stay, it's not clear if Apple's new section is a permanent one or not. For now, it's populated with a dozen apps.
