AMD CTO Phil Hester Resigns
"(AP) - The chief technology officer and vice president of chip maker Advanced Micro Devices is resigning, the company said Friday.
Phil Hester, 52, joined the company in 2005 after working for IBM Corp. for more than 20 years.
His resignation comes as AMD struggles amid intense competition from Intel Corp.'s and delays in the role out of key products.
AMD shares fell 5 cents to $6.22 in afternoon trading."
This is going to be a pivotal year for AMD. From our perspective, it appears that their graphics and chipset divisions are running smoothly, and their CPU division is poised for some success now that the TLB issue is resolved and higher clocked Phenoms are starting to hit. For the sake of competition, let's all hope AMD is able to work some of that magic that made the original Athlon such a success and turn things around.
