Amazon Extends "Send to Kindle" to PC Platform
Ground shaking or otherwise Earth moving? Not exactly. But hey, Amazon's Kindle infrastructure is primarily about its handheld Kindle devices, even though you can read eBooks on your PC via the Web, and we'll take any acknowledgement that PCs are still relevant as we can get.
"We are excited to announce “'end to Kindle' for PC, adding another convenient way to send documents to your Kindle device or supported Kindle app from Windows Explorer and many other Windows applications," Amazon said in a blog post. "From Windows Explorer, simply right-click on one or more documents and choose Send to Kindle. From any other Windows application that can print, select Print and choose Send to Kindle."
By doing so, you can archive documents in your Kindle Library for re-download at a later date. It will sync your last page read, bookmarks, notes, and highlights of your documents (minus PDFs) across your Kindle devices and supporttd Kindle reading apps, Amazon says.
The free download is available at www.amazon.com/sendtokindle. A Mac version is not yet available but is "coming soon."
