Google Chromecast Now Mirrors Your Pocket Screen To The Big Screen
Are you streaming content to your television yet? With the wealth of options available, there's really no reason not to be at this point. Still one of our favorites is Google's tiny (and affordable) Chromecast dongle (see our review), which is continually improving with updates and feature improvements, the latest of which is the ability to mirror Android content to your TV.
Effectively immediately, you can mirror your Android phone or tablet to your big (or not so big) TV. That means you can view your favorite Android app, photos, or anything else from your mobile device on a much bigger display (assuming your TV is bigger than your phone or tablet, that is).
To take advantage of the feature, just select "Cast Screen" from the navigation drawer in the Chomecast app and select your Chromecast device. You can also find this feature in the quick settings menu on Nexus devices.
"Now, anything on your Android device will appear on the TV. You can share photos stored on your phone with a group of friends, or scope out the scenery for your next family vacation together on the big screen using Google Earth," Google says.
If you find that it's a bit buggy, give it time -- the feature is currently in beta form. Google says it will roll out on popular Android phones and tablets from Samsung, HTC, LG, and others within the next few days. Meanwhile, you'll find the updated functionality in version 1.7 of the Chromecast app.
