Intel Clarkdale Core i5 Desktop Processor Debuts

PCMark Vantage

Next up, we ran a number of different test systems through Futuremark’s latest system performance evaluation tool, PCMark Vantage. PCMark Vantage runs through a host of different usage scenarios to simulate different types of workloads including High Definition TV and movie playback and manipulation, gaming, image editing and manipulation, music compression, communications, and productivity.  Most of the tests are multi-threaded as well, so the tests can exploit the additional resources offered by a quad-core CPU.

Simulated Application Performance

Whether using the Intel HD Graphics IGP or a discreet GeForce GTX 280, the new Core i5 661 performs quite well. As you can see, the dual-core Core i5 661 performs about on par with or somewhat better than the quad-core Phenom II X4 and clearly outpaces the Core 2 processors.
