If you've been eagerly anticipating the release of Samsung's Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones, we've got some good news for you. Apparently, a shipment of Samsung's new top-end devices are going to ship early, courtesy of T-Mobile. Outside of actually shelling out the cash for a new high-end phone, the worst part of a pre-order is waiting for your new device to arrive. Someone at T-Mobile seems to understand that and the company jumped the gun with initial shipments. According to reports from some customers, T-Mobile has begun shipping out S8 and S8+ units five days ahead of April 19,... Read more...
T-Mobile boss John Legere has turned the hype dial to 11 after the wireless carrier won 45 percent of the low-band 600MHz spectrum the FCC put up for auction. Legere called it "possibly the biggest news ever" for T-Mobile, which invested $7.99 billion acquiring the spectrum, its largest investment to date. No other wireless carrier walked away with a larger chunk of 600MHz spectrum than T-Mobile. "These auction results are a win for everyone, especially consumers, and generated BILLIONS for broadcasters and U.S. taxpayers. Congratulations to the FCC!," said John Legere, president and CEO of T-Mobile.... Read more...

The ZTE Quartz is packed with plenty of features and it won’t demolish your wallet in the process. This situation seems like something that you could only imagine in your most intense nightmares. Imagine being in the frantic situation where you need to dial 911 due to a life-threatening emergency, but can’t actually get through. After AT&T experienced a massive 911 service outage last week, we can now sadly report that T-Mobile is the latest wireless carrier to experience issues, ending with deadly results. Over the weekend, the 911 system in Dallas became overloaded with so-called “ghost calls” originating from T-Mobile devices. The fake calls flooded the system so greatly that those with... T-Mobile just changed the amount of data its customers are allowed to consume before they face potential throttling, depending on network usage. The limit now sits at 30 gigabytes per billing cycle, whereas previously T-Mobile's network management policy listed the ceiling at 28GB. Obviously that is not a ginormous change, and it still underscores the funny way that wireless carriers have of defining "unlimited." According to Merriam-Webster, the word unlimited has three definitions: lacking any controls: unrestricted / unlimited access boundless, infinite / unlimited possibilities not bounded... Read more...
Earlier this morning, we reported that Verizon is preparing to green light 5G wireless customer trials in the United States in mid-2017. T-Mobile isn’t quite ready to show its hand with regards to 5G wireless, but it is looking to extend LTE’s longevity with the launch of LTE-U this spring. LTE-U will allow T-Mobile customers to take advantage of 20MHz of “underutilized unlicensed spectrum” on the 5GHz band. T-Mobile says that this will expand capacity and allow it to offer even faster speeds on its nationwide wireless network. It will also provide a basis for T-Mobile’s plans to blanket the country... It’s been a whirlwind week in the wireless industry. Verizon disturbed the hornet’s nest when it unveiled its Verizon Unlimited plan, which prompted direct responses from T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T (in that order). Now were hearing about another shakeup that could be coming down the line — a merger between Sprint and T-Mobile. We’ve heard talks about such a mashup before, but it appears that the big change this time around is that Sprint’s parent company, Japan's SoftBank, is willing to cede control of the company. The merger would bring together America’s third-place (T-Mobile) and fourth-place... Read more...
There is a new wireless war taking place, and three of the four major U.S. carriers are actively engaged in fighting. It all started when Verizon Wireless announced that it was bringing back a new and reinvigorated unlimited data plan with included HD video streaming and 10GB of mobile hotspot data. T-Mobile countered by matching Verizon’s plan specifics and offering a lower monthly out-of-pocket cost. Now it’s Sprint’s turn to bring up arms against the competition. The company has announced that it will offer customers unlimited talk, text and data for $50 per month if you sign up for Sprint AutoPay.... Read more...
Yesterday, Verizon announced its return to unlimited 4G LTE data plans with Verizon Unlimited. At a cost of $80 per month, Verizon Unlimited provides unlimited data, text and talk (even to Mexico and Canada) along with 10GB of Mobile Hotspot. However, T-Mobile CEO John Legere just can’t sit back and let Verizon hog all the spotlight when it comes to wireless plans. This is especially true considering that America’s No. 1 wireless carrier subtly knocked T-Mobile ONE’s inclusions of “only” 480p video streaming. To counter the Verizon Unlimited threat, T-Mobile ONE has been upgraded from 480p to HD... Read more...
There are certain uncomfortable moments that trigger an awkward feeling in your belly. One of them is walking in on your parents when they're doing the horizontal mambo. While perhaps not quite on that level, it feels a little weird watching two wireless carriers go back and forth on Twitter in a feud over the erotic foreplay known as BDSM. At this point, we wish T-Mobile and Verizon would get a room already. It all started with a T-Mobile ad during the Super Bowl. The commercial is a spoof of 50 Shades of Grey featuring actress and comedian Kristen Schaal (from The Last Man On Earth and Bob's... Read more...
What do you do when you are having a bad day? Do you go for a long run? Do you eat an entire carton of ice cream? How about smashing your car into a building? One Florida T-Mobile customer recently smashed their SUV through the front of a Palm Springs store because they were having a “bad day”. Shinobia Montoria Wright has been charged with aggravated battery, battery, burglary, criminal mischief over $1,000 and reckless driving. She is currently hospitalized at JFK Medical Center in Atlantis after undergoing surgery on her arms for damages she received during the crash. She has also been taken... Read more...
Earlier this month, T-Mobile jumped the gun with a product listing for the new Alcatel Idol 4S Windows 10 Mobile smartphone. Today, however, T-Mobile and Microsoft officially announced the flagship device, which launched earlier this year with Android 6.0 Marshmallow preinstalled. As we reported previously, the Alcatel Idol 4S is no slouch in the specs department, bringing with it a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, microSD slot with support for up to 128GB, 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display, 20MP primary camera with Sony IMX230 sensor, 8MP selfie camera with a wide-angle... T-Mobile isn’t too happy that Verizon is the exclusive wireless carrier partner for the hot new Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones in the United States. While it’s true that anyone can buy a Pixel smartphone from the Google Store unlocked (at full price) for use on any carrier, only Verizon customers can take advantage of attractive leasing options and installment payment plans. To combat the misconception that Google’s Android Nougat flagships are only available from Verizon, T-Mobile is offering a new promotion that will give any Pixel owner who brings over their phone a $325 credit when you... Microsoft may seemingly be winding down its commitment to Windows 10 Mobile-based hardware, but its partners definitely haven’t given up. Earlier this month, Hewlett-Packard debuted the Elite X3 for $799 (Microsoft even used the smartphone in demo on stage during its Windows 10 Creators Edition keynote instead of its own Lumia 950 XL), and now we’ve learned that T-Mobile is stepping into the fray. T-Mobile will soon begin selling the Alcatel Idol 4S with Windows 10 Mobile preinstalled. The Idol 4S was previously only available from T-Mobile running Google’s Android operating system. In case you... Read more...
