Dell's Alienware gaming PC division recently announced a refresh of their 13, 15 and 17 notebook product lines, starting with the introduction of their 15 and 17 inch models and more recently unchaining their smaller but just as scrappy 13-inch beast. While the new machines don't usher in Intel's latest Kaby Lake 7th Gen Core series processors (of which only dual-core variants are currently available), they are now packing NVIDIA Pascal firepower, with a GeForce GTX 1080, GeForce GTX 1070 and GeForce GTX 1060 powering the Alienware 17, 15 and 13 models respectively. It was a clean sweep for NVIDIA... Read more...

We're just having a little fun with it. Unlike Apple's MacBook Pro and the revamped... Read more...
If you're tuning into the sites and sounds of Dell EMC World 2016 this week in Austin, Texas, you'll hear a lot about "modernizing the data center" with Dell EMC Infrastructure products, from servers to big iron storage. However, Dell is also showcasing new technologies near and dear to consumers, that are designed and built in Dell's Client Solutions group -- the personal computing business unit most folks are familiar with.During his morning keynote Jeff Clarke, Vice Chairman of Operations and President of Client Solutions for Dell, introduced Frank Azor, VP and General Manager of Dell's... It’s that time again — time for Dell to update its Alienware notebook lineup with faster processors and new graphics hardware. Today, the Alienware 15 and 17 are being updated with designs that are 25 percent thinner, while incorporating even more premium materials throughout like anodized aluminum and magnesium-alloy and steel reinforcements. Both of the gaming notebooks are VR ready according to Dell, as they should be, considering that each is available with a new GeForce GTX 10-Series GPU from NVIDIA. In the case of the Alienware 15, that means up to a GeForce GTX 1070. The mammoth Alienware... Read more...
As much as we like piecing together formidable desktop systems crammed full of high end hardware, the future of PC gaming for many mainstream users may lie in more compact setups. Certainly there's been a push to get PC players out of a dank basement and into the living room with Steam Machines and similar console-sized PCs. However, Dell's Alienware division is hoping to take things to the next level with its pint sized Alpha R2 system, an ultra small form factor (SFF) gaming desktop. We have to use the world "desktop" carefully here because the Alpha R2, like its predecessor, is more of a "shelf-top"... Read more...

The Alienware brand is as venerable a name as any in the gaming space. As Alienware celebrates over twenty years in business, its computers have become instantly recognizable thanks to distinctive, out-of-this-world styling, and science-fiction references. Dell purchased Alienware in 2006 to complement its own competing line of XPS-branded gaming machines. However, Dell has kept a largely hands-off approach, allowing Alienware to grow its own business and continue meeting consumer's expectations. So far, it has served both brands well. Alienware currently maintains three desktop families from the... Read more...
There's a first time for everything, as the saying goes, and the Alienware 13 OLED is a first for us without question. Though there were a couple of OLED (Organic LED) display driven laptops at CES 2016 this year, Dell's Alienware division is the first in the door here at HotHardware with a retail ready product. OLED displays offer better brightness, contrast, saturation and pixel response times versus legacy display types like IPS, and in in general they're more power efficient as well. OLED displays are somewhat common these days in smartphones and as it turns out, OLED-enabled handsets... Read more...
Update: 6/25/16 - Check out our full review and deep dive of the Alienware 13 OLED right here. Dell's Alienware 13 gaming notebook has been a favorite among gamers on the go and power users that want a little more horsepower in a light, 13-inch machine. However, over the past couple of years, the Alienware team hasn't changed-up the design much, until today that is. The company is officially making the OLED display powered Alienware 13, that we saw back in January at CES, available today in conjunction with the E3 show out in LA. Our initial impressions in the short time we've had the system... Read more...
Alienware is celebrating twenty years of extreme gaming excellence and to commemorate that milestone, Dell is launching four new gaming systems. The systems include the kickass Alienware 13 OLED notebook along with the Aurora, Alpha and Area-51 desktops. The most high-profile launch is of course the new Alienware 13 OLED, which is available with a 13-inch OLED panel and a display resolution of 2560x1440. The panel, which was developed in conjunction with Samsung, features a contrast ratio of 100,000:1 and offers response times as low as 1ms, with a max of 2ms. Dell claims that these are the... Whoever the Einstein was that declared this a "post PC era" needs talk to the gamers and enthusiasts that flocked to Boston Convention And Exhibition Center this weekend for the sold-out PAX East show. And in good ol' Bean Town, the Murphys might dropkick that genius for being overly impaired and "ship him off" promptly. In a record attendance of around 90,000 or so, there was plenty of console gaming going on, as well as mobile gaming on tablets and smartphones, and even board games but nothing compared to the crowds flocking around booths from major PC manufacturers and ecosystem partners like... We covered a lot of miles at CES 2016 this year, our fitness trackers often chirping "success" rather early in the day, but we saw a lot of people and a lot of tech gear in our travels. Some of it was hot - damn hot - some of it, not so much. There were some recurring themes this year, as with every year at CES it seems. The hot topics and trends this year were autonomous cars, virtual reality, more thin and light computing and of course more powerful gaming gear. Every Tech Web publication has its own short list of the best products showcased at CES 2016. We're going to run down our top 10 products... Read more...
You could almost hear the collective groan from the enthusiast community when Dell announced it had purchased Alienware, in what now feels like 100 years ago. It has actually been just shy of a decade since Dell took ownership, and rather than let the Alienware brand wither into irrelevance like some other boutique vendors that were later absorbed by major OEMs (Voodoo who?), Dell's gaming gear division has continued to thrive and innovate with the help of the company's deeper resources. If we're being totally honest (as we always are), passionate consumers come out of the woodwork whenever the... Read more...
Dell's Alienware Steam Machine is under the microscope today. In partnership with several leading PC makers, Valve has finally taken their often-talked about Steam Machine with custom SteamOS to market, promising the depth and precision of PC gaming driven by a purpose-built operating system, that offers a standardized platform similar to a tried and true "just push play" console gaming experience. The Alienware Steam Machine seems like just the thing for PC gamers looking for a simpler way to game without a lot of fuss and configuration. What’s a Steam Machine, you ask? The Steam Machine is a PC-based... Read more...
