MSI's 10.1" WindPad 100 Tablet Appears With Docking Station

It's a foregone conclusion that just about every notebook and PC maker will be at least thinking of making a tablet over the next year. Apple's iPad has sold well over 3 million units in only a few months, so it has become clear to everyone else that the market exists. Now, it's time for them to capitalize. MSI is mostly know for their all-in-one desktops and notebooks, but if this product proves to look this good on shelves, it may soon be a frontrunner in the tablet category.

The 10" MSI WindPad 100 has been rumored for a while as a prototype, but now the device is moving beyond that. The machine has just been unleashed via a bevy of press shots, which detail the 10.1" LCD, 2GB of RAM, 32GB SSD, Windows 7 OS, dual USB 2.0 ports, audio ports, an Ethernet port, VGA and HDMI.

It's a dockable slate, which means that it can dock at your desk to be used with a real keyboard and mouse when you're not on the road. MSI is expected to launch the device in earnest at IFA, maybe telling us then what GPU resides within. Still, for an estimated $499, we get the impression that these will sell quite well.
